Hi Everyone! I'm excited to share some of the first looks into our new apartment.
Spencer and I moved from Arizona to Massachusetts in June 2019 AND for the first time are living together! This was a pretty big move for us. We had to manage the logistics of picking a moving company, packing up our two Arizona apartments and coordinate dates around work travel, vacations and starting new roles. The biggest challenge that I saw though was how are we going to combine our 2 apartments worth of furniture and decor down into 1 apartment.

The Planning
The few months before the move, all I could think about was how we were going to make our styles fit together. Spencer had a very nice one bedroom apartment - having just moved to Arizona from Boston, his apartment was pretty much a shrine to his favorite city (and mostly the Red Sox!). I was in a two bedroom apartment while in Arizona and I used Joanna Gaines as my decorating inspiration (lots of gray and white).
We walked around each apartment and talked about the things we definitely want to keep, the maybes and the things we would be willing to get rid of. After that, we began listing items for sale on the Facebook Marketplace. Finally, we took the floor plan for our apartment and were able to map out where everything we decided to keep would go in our new apartment.
In order to make our styles go together, we needed to purchase a few new items. We ordered all new furniture and bedding for our master bedroom, a new rug for our living room and bar stools for our counter.
The Buying
I spent hours searching the internet for the perfect items to pull everything together. I had already sketched out how I wanted everything to look, I just needed to find the missing pieces.
Target, HomeGoods and Wayfair ended up being my best friends through the decorating process - the majority of my haul came from Target!

Target Haul
Kitchen/Living Room
- Faux Leather Counter Stool Whiskey Brown
- Google Nest Learning Thermostat - Mirror Black
- Owings End Table with 2 Shelves
- Kenzie Area Rug - Gray/Ivory
- 32" Round Decorative Wall Mirror Black
Bedroom
- Salt Spring 2 - Drawer Nightstand - Drifted Gray
- Queen Select 4 - Post Platform Bed Drifted Gray
- Prepac Queen Flat Panel Headboard Drifted Gray

The Outcome
After months of waiting & planning, we finally made the move to MA. We were greeted with a nearly empty apartment - besides the boxes of furniture we had delivered.
All of the planning paid off! We were able to easily put the furniture in place and started on the finishing touches. We started hanging the Red Sox gallery wall, placed my decorative gold antlers on the end table and... it all worked! I have never been more pleasantly surprised in my life.
We absolutely love our new home & can't wait to see how it evolves in the future!
